Saint Louis Art Museum

The Saint Louis Art Museum is seeking a Head of Conservation who is
a leader in the field of conservation, with a specialization in
objects, paper, paintings, textiles, or modern materials.

The candidate must have a degree from a recognized conservation
program, a minimum of ten years' experience in museum conservation,
and a minimum of five years' experience in administration and staff
supervision.  A demonstrated knowledge of current conservation
practices is required, as well as a strong understanding of
internationally accepted guidelines and ethical standards of
practice.  Strong leadership, organizational and planning abilities,
and experience in working collaboratively with staff, trustees, and
donors are essential with excellent speaking, writing, and
interpersonal skills, and experience with budget management.

The Head of Conservation oversees all aspects of conservation at the
Saint Louis Art Museum, in addition to undertaking treatments in
her/his specialty.  The Museum has four, fully-staffed, modern
conservation labs in the areas of objects, painting, paper and
textiles that serve a dynamic, encyclopedic collection of more than
30,000 works.
