We are pleased to announce that Ms. Carrie Beyer has been selected
for the position of Supervisory Librarian (Head, Collections
Conservation) in the Collections Conservation Section, Binding and
Collections Care Division, of the Preservation Directorate at the
Library of Congress. She reported for duty on August 11, 2014.

Ms. Beyer began her preservation career while working as a
Conservator Aide at the National Archives from 1986 to 1990. She
worked at the main laboratories and spent two years working at the
Cartographic Conservation Laboratory. In 1990 she received an MA in
Museum Studies from George Washington University and completed an
internship in Paper Conservation with the Conservation Analytical
Laboratory of the Smithsonian Institution.

Ms. Beyer first began working at the Library of Congress in
September 1990, as a Staff Assistant in the former National
Preservation Program Office, working as a liaison with the
International Federation Library Associations' Preservation and
Conservation Committee (IFLA-PAC). She then held several different
positions as a Librarian (Education and Training Specialist) within
the Preservation Directorate handling staff training, coordinating
preservation publications and managing the Preservation Directorate
website and preservation information services.

When Ms. Beyer left the Library, in May 2007, she was working in the
Binding and Collections Care Division. She worked extensively on
preservation rehousing projects for the collections prior to their
relocation to the Packard Campus of Ft. Meade storage. She was
integral in the development of the Library's emergency preparedness
programs and policies and worked with several Library custodial
divisions on collections surveys and inventories.

We are pleased that Ms. Beyer is returning to the Preservation
Directorate in her new supervisory role with the Bindings and
Collection Care Division.
