Call for Papers

"Resilient Conservation"
Conservation Matters in Wales conference
Chepstow Drill Hall
Chepstow, Wales
10 December 2014

A one day conference organised by Amgueddfa Cymru: National Museum
Wales, The Federation of Museums and Art Galleries of Wales and
Cardiff University.

We would like to invite speakers to respond to a call for papers on
the theme "Resilient conservation".

Budgets are being tightened and heritage professionals are being
constantly asked to do more with less. Conservation and collections
care is a resilient and flexible sector and we'd like to hear how
you have responded to these difficult times.

Have you noticed a change in your practice or are you being forced
to involve different criteria in your decision making? Are the
treatments you implement having to be more resilient to meet
different needs? Have you responded to calls to reduce costs or
increase revenue? Are you forming new partnerships to facilitate
greater collections access? Have you considered new materials,
equipment or approaches to work within a new or challenging
situation? Are you doing something different?

Papers will be especially welcomed exploring the issues of
sustainability, advocacy, flexibility, collections access, income
generation and adapting to change.

Conservation Matters in Wales conferences are held twice a year in
Wales, UK and bring together examples of best practice, case studies
and research in conservation and collections care, and provide
networking opportunities for conservators and museum, library and
archive professionals. This December's conference will be held in
Chepstow at The Drill Hall with thanks to the support of Chepstow
Museum.

If you are interested in speaking please send a brief outline to
