Subject: Call for papers--AIC Wooden Artifacts Group
Call for Papers WAG Session AIC Annual Meeting Miami, Florida May 13-16 2015 The Wooden Artifacts Group (WAG) of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) invite submissions for papers to be presented at WAG specialty group session at the AIC Annual Meeting in Miami Florida May 13-16 2015. The theme for AIC's 43rd Annual Meeting in Miami, FL May 13-16, 2015 will be "Practical Philosophy or Making Conservation Work". The joint session will focus on wooden objects, emphasizing the melding of theory and practice, ranging from preventative care to full treatments. We invite presentations that discuss how philosophical principles can be successfully translated into workable--even superior--practice. While papers on the Annual Meetings general theme of "Practical Philosophy or Making Conservation work" are encouraged, everyone should feel free to submit abstracts related to the topic of wooden artifacts. We want to hear what you are working on. Because UNESCO has proclaimed 2015 the International Year of Light, the AIC Program Committee is also interested in presentations that discuss practical solutions that take advantage of optical technology to examine and preserve cultural heritage. These submissions will receive special recognition on the final program. Prospective presenters are encouraged to explore for further ideas by reading the UNESCO International Year of Light Prospectus. <URL:http://c.ymcdn.com/sites/www.eps.org/resource/resmgr/events/EPS_IYL2015prospectus.pdf> To submit an abstract, email your abstract by Wednesday September 10, 2014 in Microsoft Word (*not* as a PDF) to Ruth Seyler Membership and Meetings Director rseyler<-a t->conservation-us< . >org Please indicate "WAG Session" in the subject line, as well in the body of the email and the abstract document, if attached separately.
