The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology seeks to appoint 2
Textile Conservators to manage the relocation, repacking and
conservation assessment of historic and valuable textile collections
affected by the ingress of water into its external storage facility.
The Conservators will play a key role in delivering this project and
will carry out remedial conservation treatment, working with other
conservation and collections staff as necessary.

The successful candidate will have a relevant qualification in
textile or object conservation and will also have, or will be
working towards, professional accreditation through ICON.  S/he will
have extensive knowledge and experience in the conservation of
museum textile collections and in addition to carrying out practical
conservation work will be expected to advise on future conservation
priorities.

Candidates must be self-motivated and well-organized with good oral
and written communication skills.  A high level of manual dexterity
for object handling is essential as well as a high degree of IT
literacy, including the use of collections management systems.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 19 September 2014 with
interviews expected to take place on Monday, 29 September, 2014.  It
is hoped that the successful candidate will take up the appointment
as soon as possible after 1 October 2014.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 9 months.
