The Centre for Research Collections (CRC) has developed a programme of internships to teach and extend core skills in the archive, conservation and research disciplines. Two internships are available in this round; both have a stipend attached. Archive internship: 10 weeks full-time with a stipend of UKP3000. Conservation internship: 10 weeks full-time with a stipend of UKP3000. This programme is designed for those who have recently completed (or are close to the completion of) a relevant professional qualification but are yet to gain paid or permanent employment in the sector: the internships will offer the successful candidates valuable work experience in their chosen career to enhance future employability. The interns will be well supported by CRC staff and offered extensive opportunities to develop their skills. The internships will be based within the Lothian Health Services Archive (LHSA) team working on unique healthcare-related collections <URL:http://www.lhsa.lib.ed.ac.uk> The archive intern will focus on cataloguing the rich photographic resources held by LHSA. The conservation intern will work on a number of tasks to offer a representative insight into the work of a conservator in a university context including furthering the preservation work to LHSA's extensive, historically-significant folder-based case note collections. Wider experience of working in the archive and higher education sectors will also be offered.
