Lecturer in Wall Painting Conservation The Courtauld Institute of Art Fixed Term appointment for five years from January 2015 UKP34,411-UKP39,528 pa (including London Allowance) The Courtauld Institute of Art is the UK's leading institution for teaching and research into the History of Art and the conservation of paintings and is also home to one of the finest small art museums in the world. The Courtauld's Conservation of Wall Painting Department provides MA students with multidisciplinary education in critical approaches and methods of wall painting conservation. A substantial portion of the three years (about 50%) involves fieldwork (currently all abroad) and research. The post holder will teach theory and practice, participate in the planning and implementation of field projects, in the research-led teaching of the Department, and in the programmes of the Leon Levy Foundation Centre for Conservation Studies at Nagaur (India). The Lecturer will ideally have a PhD completed or nearing completion; an MA in wall painting conservation is required as well as significant in-situ experience of wall painting conservation. The post holder will also have knowledge and experience of supervising MA-level wall painting conservation students in fieldwork contexts. S/he will have excellent practical and IT skills.
