Autumn Conference and AGM

"... well, I wasn't expecting that!"
Surprises, Revelations and Unexpected Outcomes in Conservation

The Metals Group Committee invites abstracts of 250 words maximum to
be submitted by Friday 5 September 2014.

Contributions from public and private practitioners working with
historic, archaeological and sculptural metals in outdoor,
industrial and museum contexts and historic houses are welcomed.
Presentations of 20 minutes will explore, normally through case
studies, the theme of 'surprises' in metals conservation which might
include:

    Unexpected treatment outcomes
    Long-held beliefs undermined by new evidence
    Misidentification of objects or metals
    Fakes and forgeries exposed through research and analysis

The conference will take place over two days with a tour of the
Cutty Sark and the conservation laboratories of the National
Maritime Museum (limited places) on Thursday 20 November 2014 and
presentations and AGM to follow on Friday 21 November 2014,
(confirmed details to follow).
