Exhibitions Internship University of Glasgow Conservation Department This six month post is designed to assist the Library paper conservator in preparing heritage books and manuscripts from the University Library's Special Collections for exhibition and display. The work will include undertaking basic but crucial specialist remedial preservation work on a variety of bound and unbound material dating from the 14th century onwards, as well as assisting with installing and deinstalling displays to accepted conservation standards. The intern will gain a wide range of skills and develop an excellent understanding of the complex materials that present challenging conservation issues. The job is designed as an internship to provide a newly qualified conservator with practical first post professional experience, under the supervision and guidance of an accredited conservator within the library's conservation studio and also in secure Special Collections storage areas. The intern will become familiar with conservation activities through extensive hands-on experience and observations in a working book and paper conservation studio.
