Senior Conservation Scientist Heritage Conservation Centre National Heritage Board, Singapore The Senior Conservation Scientist shall mostly be based at HCC at 32 Jurong Port Road. The National Heritage Board (NHB) is recruiting an experienced Senior Conservation Scientist for the Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC) under NHB. The HCC is a purpose-built facility for the storage and conservation of all artefacts under the custodianship of NHB (i.e. the National Collection), with the mission to care for, manage and facilitate access for these artefacts. To enhance conservation of the National Collection, HCC is committed towards introducing Conservation Science capabilities and is now seeking for an experienced individual to spear-head the development of Conservation Science. This position of Senior Conservation Scientist will set up a Conservation Science laboratory to establish material characterization services for addressing the needs of the National Collection. Responsibilities Manage logistical and budgetary planning for initial laboratory set-up Establish essential instrumentation, reference libraries, data maintenance and procedures for analysing the National Collection Design and teach short conservation science courses to junior conservators and supervise their research projects Work closely with conservators and/or stakeholders in the analysis of artefacts to support conservation and exhibition needs Research with senior conservators on project(s) of significant interest to the National Collection Manage interns and temporary staff on industrial attachments Network and nurture collaboration relationships with potential stakeholders Perform other general administrative duties when required Requirements Master's Degree or PhD, specialising in conservation science, chemistry or other scientific discipline relevant to the position At least 8 years of experience and working knowledge of analytical instrumentation applied to conservation science research, art history and art conservation practices Extensive knowledge of broad-based conservation science and one or more specialist areas in conservation research Experience and enthusiastic in teaching and sharing of results Proven track record in research publications Excellent verbal and written communication skills, project management skills and ability to work with others Good knowledge of Southeast Asian Art will be advantageous To apply, please email resume with subject title "Application for Senior Conservation Scientist" to nhb_hr<-a t->nhb< . >gov< . >sg.
