Masonry Cleaning

    This English Heritage-recognised course provides, over an
    intensive three-day period, a good understanding of techniques
    available for cleaning, paint removal and other surface
    interventions; this will enable sensible and informed
    specifications to be prepared with realistic costs.  During the
    course participants will see demonstrated and will be shown how
    to use and apply a wide range of washing, mechanical and
    chemical cleaning techniques.  The course is relevant to
    craftsmen, conservators, conservation officers, architects,
    surveyors and specialist contractors.

Conservation of Painted Interiors

    This course is designed to offer historic buildings managers,
    curators and conservation architects a broader understanding of
    issues relating to the conservation of paint within historic
    interiors. It will consider all types of in-situ historic paint,
    from plain decorative architectural paint finishes and rare
    medieval wall paints to modern mural paintings and even
    graffiti.  The programme will offer guidance on the assessment
    of significance of painted surfaces, the commissioning of paint
    research, the evaluation of conservation options,
    decision-making and community consultation.  The tutors will
    refer to a wide range of case-studies, current standards and
    policies and make use of a range of interactive activities.
