Subject: Conference on performance assessment for church buildings
"Building Performance" Care and conservation of historic church buildings and their collections Mercers' Hall London 2 October 2014 Building Performance (environmental assessments to support the use and development of cathedrals and church buildings) will look at the conservation challenges and technical demands that arise with the multiple uses of historic church buildings, including worship, education and community support, tourism and the display of museum-quality collections. Building performance assessment is a critical tool for the successful management of historic buildings and brings together information about the fabric, the microclimate, services (especially heating), and current and future uses. By understanding how a building is performing, day-to-day management can be more effective, care and conservation can be more sustainable, and the risks and running costs of alterations minimised. The conference will be on 2 October 2014 at the Mercers' Hall in London. It will bring together a range of experts, to explore the assessment of building performance and the control of internal microclimates.
