Outdoor Sculpture and Conservation Coordinator Cantor Center for the Visual Arts Stanford University Job no. 63022 Position: 75% FTE Two-year fixed term Supervisor: Director, Art+Science Learning Lab (DA+SLL) The Conservator/Coordinator for Outdoor Art will have responsibility for maintenance, conservation treatment and installation of Stanford University's premier Outdoor Art Collection. His/her primary role is to participate in the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and processes concerning the installation, management, documentation, maintenance and conservation of the outdoor art collection on the Stanford campus. Trains and schedule student technicians on the Outdoor Sculpture Maintenance Crew working alongside them on day-to-day sculpture maintenance. Works to develop relationships with staff and faculty in the maintenance of the collection, in teaching and research with the Art+Science Learning Lab. Will develop public awareness programs focused on this important resource and monitor campus-wide projects that could affect the stability and safety of works. May consult and occasionally treat non-outdoor collection as well as advise staff when director of the lab is absent from the museum. Masters degree in art history and conservation preferred with 5 years progressively responsible experience managing outdoor sculpture and conservation. Supervisory experience required. Must have clean driving record and ability to drive electric vehicle on campus. Must be able to lift and carry heavy materials short distances. The expected schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8:30-3:30, 30 hours per week, though the position requires flexibility to work some evening or weekend hours as required by projects.
