Book conservator Chester Beatty Library Dublin The Chester Beatty Library is pleased to offer a five-year contract for services in book conservation, focusing on the Library's Islamic Collections. The Chester Beatty Library houses the great collection of Sir Alfred Chester Beatty (1875-1968), the American mining engineer, financier and philanthropist. The internationally acclaimed collection of manuscripts, prints, miniature paintings, early printed books and works of art from countries across Asia, the Middle East, North Africa and Europe open a window on the great cultures and religions of the world. The Library is offering an exciting opportunity to an energetic and professional conservator to work in a dynamic museum laboratory that focuses on preventive collections care, treatment, research and public outreach. The Conservation staff work collaboratively across all divisions of the museum and are committed to professional activities both nationally and internationally. We are looking for a book conservator with a recognised qualification in conservation and a minimum of 5 years relevant work-experience. Candidates should ideally have proven experience of working on Islamic bindings and manuscripts and be professionally accredited. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Library's Head of Conservation but should be able to organise their own workload and work independently or as part of a team.
