Subject: Request for qualifications--Metal garden urn conservation project
Lead Urn Conservation Project 2014 New York Five lead garden urns require conservation treatment for reinstallation. The urns are currently crated and in storage but will be reinstalled on the estate wall at Staatsburg State Historic Site, Staatsburg, NY. Curatorial research indicates the urns may be early 18th century English garden ornaments. The urns all exhibit various degrees of lead slump, base deformation and lead tears. Conservation requires the removal of the existing armature and the installation of a new stainless armature. New bases may be required for select urns. All major lead repairs to be executed by lead burning; minor repairs may be executed with epoxy. Work also includes paint removal, primer and finish paint application. All work must conform to Technical Specifications and Drawings. Urns may be examined at Staatsburg State Historic Site with Project Manager on June 18, 2014 or by appointment (Monday-Friday 9am - 4pm). Submittal of Contractor Qualifications required with submission of quote. All quotes and qualifications must be submitted by July 14, 2014. Project completion deadline: January 20, 2015.
