In order to better understand the vulnerability of library and archive collections we need to understand how mould takes advantage of materials and the surrounding environmental conditions in order to grow. In this one day session, the Bodleian Libraries Conservation Department will introduce you to mould, the types that are commonly found in libraries and archives, their effect on different materials and prevention and mitigation strategies. Informative presentations in the morning are followed by practical, hands on treatment sessions in the afternoon. This course is suitable for conservators, archivists and librarians.
