Theological School of Halki, Turkey

The Theological School of Halki is located at the top on the island
of Halki, one of the Princes' islands.  On the grounds of the School
is the monastery of the Holy Trinity which was founded during the
Byzantine period, though the exact date of its establishment is
unknown.  The Theological School of Halki (also Chalki) was, until
its closure by the Turkish authorities in 1971, the main school of
theology and primary seminary

Taking into consideration the high status of the Theological School
of Halki, the Department of Conservation of Cultural Heritage
located in Zakynthos island (Greece), having highly equipped
laboratories and lecture theaters has organized the first meeting
for the conservation and physicochemical analysis of Orthodox
ecclesiastical artefacts, Saturday 12 June 2014.  Contributions on
related topics from the disciplines ecclesiastical art history,
technical art history and conservation science have been invited.

Abstracts of the presentations will be available during the meeting.
