Course Outline: Mould is ubiquitous. In order to better understand
the vulnerability of library and archive collections we need to
understand how mould takes advantage of materials and the
surrounding environmental conditions in order to grow. In this one
day session, the Bodleian Libraries Conservation Department will
introduce you to mould, the types that are commonly found in
libraries and archives, their effect on different materials and
prevention and mitigation strategies. Informative presentations in
the morning are followed by practical, hands on treatment sessions
in the afternoon. This course is suitable for conservators,
archivists and librarians.
