Museum Conservator Library and Historic Collections University of Aberdeen Museum Conservator Full-time Closing Date: 7 Apr 2014 The University of Aberdeen requires a qualified artefact conservator to develop and manage an efficient and effective conservation service for its museums and to help formulate and deliver programmes of collections care. You will help assess needs and develop conservation programmes in collaboration with colleagues in the university and other stakeholders. You will have a good degree in a relevant subject and have practical experience of working with relevant collections, ideally being an ICON Accredited Conservator. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational and ICT skills. Supervision and line management reporting will be to the Head of Museums. Overall supervision is effected by informal meetings and frequent individual contact as necessary by the Head of Museums. There are regular Museums and Library, Special Collections and Museums team meetings. The post is primarily based in Marischal College, though with work also taking place elsewhere in the University. Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 5 salary scale (UKP25,759 - UKP28,972) with placement according to qualifications and experience. This post is available until 31 January 2015 to undertake the activities of a staff member taking a period of leave. This post is not on the current "shortage occupation" list and does not meet the minimum qualification requirements as issued by the Border and Immigration Agency therefore it will not qualify for a work permit.
