Minimum salary (for recent graduate) UKP 25,218 p.a. (Euro39,628p.

Bevaringscenter Fyn based at Ohavsmuseet, Denmark seeks applicants
for a temporary position as artefact conservator

The conservation unit, Bevaringscenter Fyn, services 6 regional
museums with mixed and specialist collections and employ 3 full time
conservators specialising in social history, paper and
archaeological conservation.  The unit employs additional staff on
fixed term projects.

A recognised qualification in general objects conservation or
equivalent such as training in a conservation studio and practical
experience is required.  We are looking for an enthusiastic and
committed individual, who can work independently and to deadlines,
is keen to develop existing skills and knowledge as well as
acquiring new ones and take part in the day to day running of the
conservation unit.  Experience with risk assessments and collection
surveys are desirable.  An interest in modern materials would be
useful as part of the post holder's time will be spent preparing
objects for a new Cold War exhibition.  It is therefore essential
that the candidate is interested in working with a range of
different museum professionals, and must therefore possess strong
interpersonal and organisational skills in addition to good
communication skills.

Responsibilities include examination, photographic and written
documentation and remedial conservation.  Preparation of objects for
exhibition, including designing and making mounts.  Taking part in
general conservation activities such as environmental monitoring,
climate and pest control, collection surveys and rehousing may also
be required.

Knowledge of Danish is not required, but spoken and written English
is essential.
