Invitation to Tender
Business Development Consultant for Ligatus Research Centre
University of the Arts London

Application deadline:
Monday, 31 March, 2014

The University of the Arts London is a vibrant world centre for
innovation, drawing together six Colleges with international
reputations in art, heritage conservation, design, fashion,
communication and performing arts. Every position within the
University plays an important part in shaping future professionals,
and impacts on the future of so many creative industries. Expert
management of the organisation is essential to ensuring that this
continues and so will your contribution be to the Ligatus Research
Centre.

The Ligatus Research Centre at UAL offers a stimulating and
challenging working environment, where internationally recognised
research in libraries and archives is combined with computer science
and a particular interest in historical bookbinding.

Ligatus has undertaken a number of significant research projects in
these fields and has identified possibilities for applying the
results of these projects to enterprise activities. We are seeking
to appoint a business development consultant with experience in
business, growth and a good understanding of conservation and
heritage management in the context of libraries and archives to
develop and deliver a strategic plan for income generating
activities (probably consultancy or contract research) in Ligatus.

The business development consultant will:

Identify and formulate the "products" Ligatus has to offer,

Undertake market research to identify areas of particular
    interest,

Establish links with key organisations which may have an
    interest in Ligatus's services,

Produce literature (both online and on paper) to help promote
    Ligatus's services,

Produce a 3-year plan for income generating activities in
    Ligatus,

Work towards securing two contracts for Ligatus.

Ligatus has allocated a fixed sum of money for this work, which has
to be undertaken and ideally completed before the end of August
2014.

In the first instance, please submit a short outline (no more than
one side of A4) of how you would propose to carry out this work,
together with an indication of your estimated time-fame and
associated costs to Ewelina Warner.

Deadline for applications: Monday, 31 March 2014

Interview: 14-15 April 2014
