I would like to inform you about our summer 2014 field school, the San Gemini Preservation Studies Program, now in its 15th year, which is dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage and offers students the opportunity to study and travel in Italy. Deadline for applications is April 15, 2014. The programs offered are listed below: Session 1: Monday June 2-27, 2014 Includes: Program A: Historic Buildings Restoration and Survey (field work: restoration of the facade of San Carlo, 13th century and surveying San Giovanni Battista complex, 12th century) Program B: Archaeological Ceramic Restoration (field work: restoration of ceramics from the Archaeological Museum of Perugia) Program C: Book Bindings Restoration (field work: replicas of historically documented book structures, realization of conservative enclosures for books, miscellaneous fragments and valuable objects and more) Session 2: Monday July 14 - Friday August 8, 2014 Program D: Restoration of Paper in Books and Archival Documents (field work: restoration of paper documents from historical archives (16th-19th centuries) Program E: Painting Restoration Program (field work: realization of sgraffito and fresco, tempera and oil paintings according to historical handbooks) More about our programs and the syllabi please visit <URL:http://sangeministudies.info/> Optional field trip between the 2 sessions: Siena, Florence and Rome that includes visits to institutions and restoration sites.
