We are accepting applications for a Conservator who will work
alongside the Chief Conservator in all daily activities.

ConservArt is a multidisciplinary conservation studio.  Treatment of
paintings, works on paper, objects, carved, gilt and poly-chromed
wood, ceramics, glass, photographic materials and others.  The
successful candidate will be familiar with Preparing Condition
reports, surveys and treatment recommendations, production of
photographic documentation, IR and UV examination, microscopy, basic
chemical and physical testing and analysis, etc., and will be
required to assist with projects involving Museum Exhibit Framing,
conservation grade custom framing, replicas of period frames and
micro-climate enclosures.  Please visit our website for a more

ConservArt serves museums, historical societies, archives,
collections of art in public places and other collecting entities
including corporate, governmental and private collectors.

Position responsibilities:

    Conservation treatments to artworks, artifacts, and objects
    within the candidates field of specialization

    Interface with clients during consultations and project
    meetings.

    Compilation of condition reports and treatment records

    Photographic documentation

    Limited occasional travel to projects off site

Qualifications:

    A recognized undergraduate or a Masters degree in Conservation,
    with 3 years of relevant practical experience, or equivalent

    Familiarity with the physics and chemistry of cultural materials
    and conservation principles

    Ability to carry out practical work with high degree of manual
    dexterity and aesthetic sensitivity

    Possess initiative with ability to multitask, organize and
    prioritize work within a project timeline

    Positive attitude, a strong team player who can work
    independently when required

    Ability and experience to coach and impart conservation skills
    and knowledge effectively

    Experience in handling cultural materials with sensitivity and
    ability to make sound contextual judgments in accordance with
    ethical conservation principles and practices

    Possess strong verbal and written communication skills

    Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet computing and photo
    editing

    Physical ability to move materials and artwork up to 60 lbs
