Trainee Archive Conservator Highland Archive Centre, Inverness Vacancy Reference number: HLH/1401/07 35hrs per week UKP14,414 - UKP16,234 To support the Senior Conservator in the operation of the Archive Conservation Unit. This post provides a unique opportunity for those wishing to train in Archive Conservation to gain experience of all aspects of archive conservation work in an archive service, whilst undertaking a recognised training course in Archive Conservation. The post is tenable for a maximum period of four years. To support the effective operation of the conservation unit as part of the Highland Archive Service. To undergo practical training in the basic principles of archive conservation and preservation. To carry out conservation activities and preservation procedures including environmental monitoring, safe handling, packaging, and preventative measures. To assist, under supervision, with intrusive conservation work on paper, parchment, photographs, and maps. To assist, under supervision, with book binding work. To assist as required in the preparation of exhibitions. To undertake the preparation of surrogate copies of records. To assist with conservation surveys of records held at the Hub and Spokes, and at other locations in the Highlands. To compile statistics relating to the work of the Archive Conservation Studio.
