Conservation Technician Saint Louis Art Museum The Saint Louis Art Museum is seeking a full-time Conservation Technician with the primary responsibility of matting, hinging, framing and exhibition preparation of prints, drawings and photographs. A Bachelor's degree and prior experience in a museum or art gallery are required. The applicant must have basic knowledge of how to care for works of art on paper. Excellent fine art handling skills and demonstrated ability to mat and frame works of art on paper are required. Knowledge of TMS for collections management and the use of digital cameras for conservation purposes preferred. Job purpose: To perform matting, hinging and framing of works of art on paper using current conservation standards. Assist the Paper Conservator and Curators with planning and preparation of works of art for exhibition and loan. Organize and maintain the Frame Lab storage areas and supplies. Note art movement of the paper collection and works coming into the department for consideration or loans. Assist all conservators in the Paper, Painting, Textile and Object Labs, as needed.
