"Splitting Hairs!" An introductory one day workshop on the identification of hair and fibre Horniman Museum, London, UK Wednesday 18 June 2014 A one day workshop on the identification of hair will take place at the Horniman Museum, London, on 18 June 2014 and will be led by Kerri Allen, forensic scientist. With extensive experience in the identification of domestic and human hair. Now a consultant with Forensic Context Ltd, Kerri has 25 years experience working for the Home Office, the Metropolitan Police and the Forensic Science Service. Encompassing both theoretical and practical sessions, the workshop will cover the structure and nature of hair and its identifying features and include domestic and wild animals. Practical work will cover how to sample and mount hairs, and microscope identification of test samples. Participants are encouraged to share their experiences and challenges. The workshop will benefit those caring for all types of objects. The cost of the 1 day workshop is UKP120.00 and includes materials, hand-outs and refreshments (excluding lunch).
