Subject: Call for papers--Conference on volatile binding media
Call for papers "Subliming Surfaces: Volatile Binding Media in Heritage Conservation" University of Cambridge Museums Connecting Collections: Care and Conservation (UCM 4C) Cambridge UK 15 -17 April 2015 Since their introduction to the conservation world two decades ago, a multitude of applications have been found for volatile binding media (VBM), that is, cyclododecane and similar materials. This conference will be the first opportunity for the profession to gather and discuss these materials. Two days (15-16 April, 2014) of oral presentations and poster sessions will be followed by an optional day (17 April, 2014) of practical workshops. There will be a peer-reviewed digital publication of the conference proceedings. UCM 4C is looking forward to receiving abstracts for presentations on topics encompassing innovative uses and application methods, large scale projects, archaeological applications, project management issues and practical considerations when using VBM, questions about safety and the effect of these media on the environment, chemistry of VBM and the issue of residues, and experiences with VBM other than cyclododecane.
