Paul M. and Harriet L. Weissman Senior Photograph Conservator Weissman Preservation Center Harvard Library Harvard Library is now accepting applications for the position of Paul M. and Harriet L. Weissman Senior Photograph Conservator. The incumbent will manage a productive photograph preservation program, responsive to the needs and priorities of the Harvard Library community. The senior conservator will report to the Head of the Weissman Preservation Center (WPC) and work in the special collections conservation laboratory of the Weissman Preservation Center on the campus of Harvard University. Primary duties and responsibilities include: Supervises and manages all photograph preservation staff members in the WPC, including photograph conservators, technicians and cataloger. Supervises and coordinates the work of other Harvard staff, interns, Fellows, or contractors working on relevant photograph conservation projects. May supervise and manage other WPC conservation technicians as necessary In consultation with librarians, curators, and archivists, examines, develops treatment specifications for, and treats photographic materials in the Harvard library collections Prepares condition and treatment reports including photo documentation Conducts condition surveys and assessments, analyzes results, and develops action plans Contributes to the development of conservation policies, guidelines, project plans, and grant proposals Advises curators and librarians regarding the preservation of photographic materials Utilizes material analysis techniques and provides recommendations for analysis to be contracted Participates in educational program activities For full position description, qualifications and grade level, please see Harvard's employment website at <URL:http://www.employment.harvard.edu> Click on "Administrative/Staff Jobs" for either internal or external candidates, then "Search Openings."
