Dutch speaking applicants only

2 or 3 days per week on contract basis (six month contract with one
month trail period)

Within the studio paintings of high value and caliber are treated.
These include both museums and private owners.  Paintings primarily
date between the 16th and 20th century and are traditional oil
paintings on canvas or panel.  Both conservation and restoration
treatments are conducted in the studio.  The duties of the junior
paintings conservator will be:

    Executing high-quality conservation and restoration treatments
    on paintings, with some supervision, but must also be able to
    work independently

    The scientific examination and documentation of the condition of
    paintings.  This also includes thorough documentation of
    treatments and the writing of scientific articles relating to
    treatment

    Extensive knowledge of materials and methods as well as
    treatment experience is required.  This includes treatments such
    as consolidation of paint layers, varnish removal, retouching,
    framing and the structural treatment of canvas and panel
    paintings

    The junior conservator will be expected to give studio-tours and
    build social relationships with clients and be involved in
    networking to acquire new business.  For this fluent written and
    verbal Dutch is crucial.  Preference will be given to applicants
    with existing networks in the Netherlands.  All documentation in
    the studio is in Dutch

Requirements:

    Experience in the practical conservation and restoration of
    paintings as well as experience in documentation of treatments
    and analysis results

    Experience in treatment of both old and modern paintings (16th
    century to 21st century)

    In-depth understanding and broad knowledge of modern
    conservation methods and materials

    International work-experience and internships giving to a
    greater understanding of conservation on an international level
    would be advantageous

        Analytical and problem-solving

        Fluent in both Dutch and English, both verbal and written

        Social and good communicator

        Career-oriented

        Integrity, both personal and related to the ethical aspects
        of conservation and restoration

        Service-oriented, flexible, hard-working and stress
        resistant

        Experience in the giving of presentations and lectures

        Experience in writing high-quality articles and texts,
        illustrated by at least one current publication

Required Education/Professional Training: Academic training as
professional paintings conservator (tertiary education at a
recognized institution) equivalent to SRAL or University of
Amsterdam.  Minimum 2 years practical experience after obtaining
Masters Degree in Paintings Conservation
