Chief Conservator Heritage Conservation Centre National Heritage Board, Singapore The National Heritage Board (NHB) is recruiting a dynamic Chief Conservator for Conservation Services Department (CSD). CSD is part of the Heritage Conservation Centre (HCC) under NHB. The key function of the CSD is to deliver high standards of professional conservation services through its interventive and preventive conservation expertise. The department conserves the national collection and supports the exhibition needs of the NHB museums. Focus is placed on continuous professional development to maintain and/or raise conservation standards through conservation research or any other avenues. The department also plays a role in outreach activities to generate greater public awareness in heritage preservation and contributes to lifting standards of conservation practice in the industry. Responsibilities You will assist the Director of HCC in leading, developing and managing the team of at least 30 staff in CSD. This role is leadership/administrative in nature, which will require you to spend less time on practical work. Some of the key areas of responsibilities include to: Set out the department's strategic roles and functions and to assist in the identification, mapping and execution of the mid and long-term strategic thrusts and action plan for the development of the department. Lead and oversee the department's operations such as overall resource management (including budgeting and staffing), operational policies and procedures and staff development. Develop relevant conservation capabilities that will serve HCC's evolving and emerging needs. Assist in the development of the Centre's conservation education and outreach programmes. Requirements Recognised heritage conservation-related degree with at least 10 years of working experience in heritage conservation field. Experience in working in a museum or institution and managing a fairly large conservation department that handles a wide range of materials. Good track record and considerable exposure to organisational development and management functions, such as Chief or Principal Conservator, will be preferred. Strong project management skills. Possess excellent written and verbal communication, strong interpersonal skills and enjoy the challenges of working among technical experts. A self-disciplined, motivated person with leadership skills. Work Location: The Chief Conservator shall mostly be based at HCC at 32 Jurong Port Road.
