Subject: Masterclass on digital photography for documentation
The Fotorestauratie Atelier VOF in Amsterdam is offering the following workshop: Digital Photograph Documentation for Conservators / Restorers 14-16 April 2014 Cost: 595,00 euro In the past 10 years conservators have switched from analog photograph documentation of their conservation treatments to digital documentation. In this 3 day workshop conservators are invited to bring their camera and their questions. The differences in digital photograph documentation will be discussed and the tools necessary to ensure the preservation of digital files will be taught. Topics such as which targets to use, how to make a white balance, lighting, file format and stitching together images will be presented and during practicals, participants will have time to make photograph documentation of various objects and learn the basics of software such as Adobe Photoshop. Hans Meesters, the lecturer of the course is photographer. Meesters owned a professional photography lab in Amsterdam for 14 years. In 2003 Meesters started working with various museums in the Netherlands as photographer. During this time he worked closely with conservators and was introduced into their working methods. Meesters became Head of Digitisation at the Fotorestauratie Atelier VOF in 2007 specialising in digitising fragile objects. He teaches photography at the University of Amsterdam Masters Program in Conservation.
