Sustainable Preservation Specialist
Image Permanence Institute (IPI)

The Image Permanence Institute (IPI), a recognized leader in the
development and deployment of sustainable practices for the
preservation of images and cultural property, is seeking a
Sustainable Preservation Specialist to join their staff. The
Sustainable Preservation Specialist will provide information to a
range of cultural institutions on best practices for managing and
operating mechanical systems to provide the best possible
preservation of collections with the least possible consumption of
energy through a variety of consulting, advisory, and technical
support activities.

Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of mechanical
system operation and management, environmental data analysis, and
sustainable mechanical system operation, as well as the willingness
to learn from experts in the field of material preservation and
collection care. On- and off-site consulting services include
environmental monitoring and data analysis, mechanical system
analysis, identification of energy saving opportunities, suggestions
for mechanical system design and operation, and preservation
commissioning.

A minimum of three years' experience in facility management,
mechanical engineering, project management, or mechanical system
design and analysis strongly preferred. Experience working in a
cultural institution (archive, library, or museum) preferred but not
required. Teaching or presentation and writing experience desirable.
Bachelor's Degree or Certification in related field or equivalent
training and experience required. This candidate must be willing and
able to travel both nationally and internationally, and to work
within mechanical rooms and mechanical systems.
