Masterclass Specification of Display Cases The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge Monday 12 May 2014 University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) with English Heritage and the Museum of London is organising a one day seminar about the specification and performance of display cases. Cost: UKP100 Seminar leaders: David Thickett Senior Conservation Scientist, English Heritage Helen Ganiaris Conservation Manager, Museum of London Julie Dawson Senior Assistant Keeper (Conservation), Fitzwilliam Museum This one day seminar will discuss practical issues in the specification of display cases. Topics to be covered include materials used in case construction and internal fittings, case lighting and how to make sure you get the silica gel compartment you asked for. It will look at the relationship between case structure and air exchange, how to measure air tightness, how to monitor and control the environment within a case. In the afternoon a variety of display cases in the Fitzwilliam Museum will be examined in detail and their performance scrutinised.
