Subject: Dawn Walus appointed chief conservator of the Boston Athenaeum
On January 1, 2014, Dawn Walus was promoted to chief conservator of the Boston Athenaeum. In this new role, she will have primary responsibility for the preservation of all special collections, including rare books, prints, manuscripts, and maps. Ms. Walus joined the Athenaeum in 2011 as associate conservator, after having worked at the Weissman Preservation Center at Harvard University. She previously worked at Rieger Art Conservation and the Preservation Society of Newport County. Ms. Walus is a graduate of the art conservation program at Buffalo State College, and held conservation internships at The Huntington Library and The New York Academy of Medicine.
