Subject: Salaries
It is a sad commentary on our times that the British Museum and Rijksmuseum offer employment for museum scientist positions at 28,000+ UKP and full conservators at the equivalent of $30,000 to $35,000. The US museums do not even bother to give a salary quote! These figures are just about what they were 3 decades ago! Can anyone afford to live in London at 28,000 UKP? One thing European certification has shown us is that if it did not bring higher salaries it must have produced more prestige, better office space or some other perks, no?
