Subject: Adrienne Bell appointed book conservator at Folger Shakespeare Library
The Werner Gundersheimer Conservation Lab at the Folger Shakespeare Library is pleased to announce the addition of Adrienne Bell to the staff in the position of Book Conservator as of October 28, 2013. Adrienne has been active in Conservation since she obtained her Master's in Library and Information Sciences, specializing in Preservation Management, from the University of Pittsburgh in 2003. In 2004, Adrienne joined the staff at Etherington Conservation Services, starting as a Conservation Technician and working her way up to Associate Rare Books Conservator over the course of 8 years. In addition to her responsibilities as a Conservator at Etherington, Adrienne served at the Field Services Representative, assisting clients in handling preservation concerns, doing site visits, and representing the company at professional conferences. In 2010 and 2011, Adrienne completed two four month long professional internships at Johns Hopkins University and the Folger Shakespeare Library. In 2012, Adrienne began work in the Dept of Conservation and Preservation at Johns Hopkins University as their Preservation Librarian, focusing predominantly on overhauling their disaster plan, instituting an environmental monitoring program, and conducting care and handling training sessions for library staff. During this time, Adrienne also began working as a conservator in private practice during her spare time, performing treatments for a variety of clients.
