Assistant Conservator American Museum of Natural History Working on the North American Mammals Hall Renovation project under the direction of the project manager and AMNH staff conservators, the Assistant Conservator is responsible for the examination, documentation and treatment of various components of the Hall dioramas. Duties and requirements include: Preparing extensive written and photographic documentation of the dioramas; Working closely with consulting paintings conservator, taxidermist, and preparators to completely necessary treatments; Familiarity with a wide range of materials including but not limited to taxidermy specimens, oil paintings, painted paper, plastic and composite materials; and, Proficiency with digital photography and associated photo-editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. Qualifications: graduate conservation degree or equivalent. This is a term position which will begin early 2011; salary commensurate with experience.
