Subject: Project Lingua
IIC is committed to developing ways in which the world community of preservation professionals can communicate and has launched Project Lingua, a voluntary global effort by IIC members to translate a variety of transcripts from the events produced by the initiative Dialogues for the New Century: <URL:http://www.iiconservation.org/dialogues/> Thus, the edited transcripts produced from the events that make up Dialogues for the New Century are now available in a number of languages. This has been made possible by a growing number of dedicated professionals, the Linguas, who have taken the time to translate the edited transcripts into a variety of languages. Simply click on the language tab listed for each transcript and it will take you to a PDF file in that particular language. Within the next month many of these transcripts will be available in French, German, Greek, Japanese, Croat, Arabic and Turkish... and soon Polish, Korean, Farsi, Portuguese, Spanish and Hebrew. If you speak a language other than English and would like to be part of this exciting new initiative contact the IIC office and become a Lingua! As more languages are added every month, you may still not see a transcript in the language you are looking for--you can check back or join this effort today and become a Lingua. IIC is committed to sharing information, since sharing professional knowledge benefits and expands each member of the conservation community and ultimately draws that community closer together. But we cannot do this alone. We need your help. Make a real difference to the international conservation community via IIC.
