Subject: Call for presenters--AIC Book and Paper Group, ACDG
Call for presenters AIC Book and Paper Group Archives Conservation Discussion Group (ACDG) The Archives Conservation Discussion Group (ACDG) of the AIC Book and Paper Group is pleased to announce the 2011 session topic: Digitization and Its Effect on Conservation Treatment Decisions: How has wide-spread digitizing of collections changed our approach to treatment? In line with this year's AIC theme: ETHOS, LOGOS, PATHOS: ethical principles and critical thinking in conservation, the ACDG aims to examine the impact of providing digital collections in museums and libraries, and their conservation implications. The co-chairs are seeking individuals to present on topics such as: How are conservators balancing ethical concerns, especially as dictated by the AIC Code of Ethics, with increased demand from digital projects? How are conservators keeping pace with large-scale or fast-paced digitizing projects, while maintaining standards? What impact has limiting access to original materials by providing digital surrogates had on treatment decisions? Speakers are asked to prepare a ten to fifteen minute presentation and provide a one-page handout for reference and Web-posting. If you are interested in sharing your insight and experiences with how digital projects have affected your treatment decisions, please contact us by December 17, 2010 at acdg.chair<-at->gmail<.>com with a short description of your project.
