Subject: Internships at Estadio da Luz, Lisbon
We are contacting your Institution with the objective of sharing a brief presentation of the fields, developed in partnership with ARGO - Conservation and Restoration. Internships and training program conservation/restoration and museology Estadio da Luz, Lisbon, Portugal Duration: variable Minimum period of participation: One month Project name: Sport Lisboa e Benfica (S.L.B.): Conservation of the Collection: From Inventory to Exhibition. SLB offers accommodation, transport and meals. Fields of work: Conservation and restoration of composite material, mainly trophies (metals and wood); conservation and restoration of visual and photographic documents, inventory processes. Keeping in mind the extent, diversity and value of the items collected by Sport Lisboa e Benfica (S.L.B.) to the present day, such as trophies and prizes, it was determined that the preservation of this collection is of extreme relevance, so as to guarantee its safe keeping, value, and adequate exhibition as an historical testimony to the Club's existence, that merges with Portugal's own history in the 20th Century. In those terms, considering Sport Lisboa e Benfica's dimension and brand value, in partnership with ARGO - Conservation and Restoration, a company that works to protect and divulge Artistic and Cultural Patrimony, we have initiated a fantastic new project of preservation. Together, we have a shared goal of developing an exemplary model and a "one of a kind" Museum. Other partners involved include institutions from complimentary fields such as universities, federations, associations, public and private Institutions, considering the underlying concept of the project in development is completely innovative in Portugal. Over time, Sport Lisboa e Benfica has gathered the necessary conditions and capacities (infrastructures, technology and professionals) to create, what will hopefully become, one of the most widely visited Museums in the country. Within this project, the SCR (Storage, Conservation and Restoration) and DIC (Documentation and Information Center) spaces are being created and will be open to the public. An official inauguration of these spaces--the SCR and DIC--will soon be held in the presence of the national and international media. Using the vast patrimony at hand, this project is pioneering in respect to the alliance between Culture, Sports and Technology in Portugal. Sport Lisboa e Benfica is open to welcoming interns that seek research internships and/or volunteers who may have an interest in participating in this project.
