The  following  vacancy  is  only available to people who are
classified as Australian  permanent  residents,  Australian citizens
or holders of unrestricted Australian work visas of 2 or more years.

Temporary, up to 2 years, full time

The  Art  Gallery  of NSW is seeking to fill a temporary position
for up to two years of Conservator, Grade 2, Exhibitions and Loans.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is seeking an experienced
Conservator to provide  specialist  conservation  services  to
support the exhibitions and loans program organised by the Gallery.

Salary package: Salary  range  ($68,075  - $80,479) AUD, plus 9%
employer's contribution to superannuation and 1.35% annual leave
loading.

Selection criteria:

    Tertiary  qualifications  in  Materials Conservation and
    thorough knowledge   and   understanding   of  the  physical and
    chemical construction   of  artworks:   chemistry,  art history,
    artists' methods   and   materials   and  techniques  used.
    Knowledge  of conservation principles identified by the
    Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Materials
    in its 'Code of Ethics'.

    Demonstrated  experience  in the examination and documentation
    of artwork across diverse media groups.

    Demonstrated ability to provide the conservation requirements
    for both  travelling and non-travelling exhibitions, and for
    loans, in a museum or gallery environment.

    Demonstrated  knowledge  of  current  international standards
    for handling, packing, transport and display of irreplaceable
    works of art across all media types.

    Demonstrated  ability  to carry out treatments on works of art
    in your  area  of  specialisation,  complemented with a broad
    general knowledge  of  conservation  methods  of  other  art
    media and the ability to perform routine preparation across all
    media types.

    Demonstrated    well-developed    interpersonal,   negotiation,
    communication  and  organisation  skills  with a proven ability
    to work  in  a  high-pressure  environment  and  to  manage
    multiple projects.

    Ability to work flexible hours as required for the exhibitions
    and loans schedule.

    Well-developed computer literacy skills.
