At Tate, the world's leading centre for display, interpretation and
study of British, modern and contemporary art, we enjoy a national
and international profile and reputation for excellence. We welcome
seven million visitors every year, impressing them with a unique
programme of displays, exhibitions, events and learning.

At the heart of Tate is the Collection, comprising some 67,000 works
of British art from the 16th century to the present day,
international modern and contemporary art. Our Conservation
department is responsible for providing specialist conservation
services across all four Tate galleries. We bring excellence and
innovation to the care of Tate's Collection, while preventing damage
and deterioration of both nationally respected and internationally
renowned pieces.

About the role: Situated within the Time-based Media Team, you'll
provide technical expertise for the conservation of works of art
within Tate's Collection and care. As a member of a team of Senior
Technicians, you'll support Tate's varied programme of exhibition,
events, displays and loans through technical excellence. Using an
innovative approach, you'll make recommendations for the transport,
handling and installation of Time Based Media artworks and
equipment. Working with conservators, artists and exhibitions teams
you will assist in the preparation, modification and assembly of
art, using the full range of specialist techniques. Leading by
example, we'll also look for your contribution in developing and
implementing long term procedures, as you actively look to improve
the overall technical expertise of the department.

About you To join this exciting and developing area at Tate, you'll
need a relevant technical qualification (or equivalent work
experience), and to be knowledgeable and experienced in the
installation of artworks. This will include electronic media, film,
video, audio, slide and computer based elements. You'll be
experienced in providing expert technical advice, taking into
account both practical and ethical issues, and applying an awareness
of old and new media and display technologies. Also evident will be
your excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, scrupulous
attention to detail, and planning abilities. You must also have
end-user IT skills, including image processing and collection
management database software. This role will involve occasional
travel and out-of-hours working.
