Ref: 10074

At Tate, the world's leading centre for display, interpretation and
study of British, modern and contemporary art, we enjoy a national
and international profile and reputation for excellence. We welcome
seven million visitors every year, impressing them with a unique
programme of displays, exhibitions, events and learning.

At the heart of Tate is the Collection, comprising some 67,000 works
of British art from the 16th century to the present day,
international modern and contemporary art. Our Conservation
department is responsible for providing specialist conservation
services across all four Tate galleries. We bring excellence and
innovation to the care of Tate's Collection, while preventing damage
and deterioration of both nationally respected and internationally
renowned pieces.

About the role: We're seeking an experienced conservator to provide
first-class conservation support and expertise across all four Tate
sites and programmes. You'll be responsible for preparing Time-Based
Media works of art for loan, exhibition and display, sharing your
specialist knowledge throughout Tate and beyond. As you keep
up-to-date with the latest conservation techniques, you'll use this
insight to formulate treatments and strategies for preservation and
display, ensuring the highest standards at all times. You'll carry
out preventative conservation yourself, including environmental
monitoring and integrated pest management, while recommending safe,
efficient ways to store, transport, and display the Collection.
Leading by example, you'll also actively contribute to the
development and implementation of long term care procedures.

About you: You'll need a professional conservation qualification (or
equivalent), as well as a demonstrable commitment to the on-going
conservation and care of Time-Based Media. You will have practical
knowledge of the installation and care of film, video, audio, slide
and computer based media and their supporting equipment. You're able
to assess and document objects, applying a full understanding of the
ethics and theory behind your work, and insight into developing
conservation best practice. You have a broad awareness of
conservation methods, and have applied them to the treatment of a
wide range of art works. You'll also have effective communication,
problem solving and IT skills, with flexibility around working hours
and related travel. Contact Details/How to apply
