CCC Records Administrator Conservation Technician (part time position) Historic Royal Palaces Part-time Conservation Technician Hampton Court Palace 3 days per week Maternity cover -- 6 months (with possible extension) UKP19,248 pro rata Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, the Banqueting House, Kensington Palace and Kew Palace--as well as an amazing historical collection. That's where our Conservation and Collection Care (CCC) department comes in. Our job is to ensure everyone can explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society, in some of the greatest palaces ever built. Responsible for the treatment and care of the historic collections and decorative features, the CCC team comprises preventive and treatment conservators together with conservation scientists. Join them and you'll play a key role in running our highly professional technical service. Chiefly, we'll look to you to prepare conservation support materials for a wide range of textile treatments, laboratory work and preventive conservation operations. As a source of internal expertise, you'll also be expected to play an active role in organising and maintaining our treatment facilities. Educated to A level standard, you'll bring recent experience of preparing supports, linings and other materials for conservation treatments and display as well as cost-effectively managing budgets for conservation materials, laboratory supplies and laundry contracts. Joining our Conservation and Collection Care team, you'll support the work of our conservators by maintaining our recently-digitised archive system. Handling a huge range of written and photographic records, you'll ensure that our libraries, archives and catalogues are kept up-to-date with all our highly specialised conservation projects. You'll also deliver a quality service to anyone needing to access archived material. To meet a challenge like this, you'll need documentation, records or information management experience gained in a collections-focused environment such as a museum or a library. Knowledge of MLA documentation standards is essential too, as are attention to detail and a genuine interest in our conservation work. What's more, you must be computer literate with great time-management skills and a customer-focused approach.
