Sculpture Conservator Tate Millbank, London Closing date: 10 September 2010 Salary: UKP27,150 per annum Contract Type: Fixed term up to 31 March 2011 Tate's Collection comprises some 67,000 works of British art from the 16th century to the present day, international modern and contemporary art. Our Collection Care Division is responsible for ensuring this vast resource is readily accessible and available for all four Tate galleries--now and in the future--through excellence and innovation in care, while preventing damage and deterioration of both nationally respected and internationally renowned pieces. We are seeking an experienced sculpture conservator to work within our Sculpture Conservation team in support of Tate Britain displays, under the Transforming Tate Britain Project. Day-to-day, you'll concentrate on assessing, preparing and treating works of art within the Collection and on supporting all related display activity. You will hold a recognised qualification in Conservation with demonstrable practical experience. It is essential to have analytical and problem-solving skills, organisational, time-management and planning skills, and to be effective communicator. You will need to be able to work independently on conservation treatments and provide specialist advice for storage, transport and installation of works of art. Good end-use IT skills will also be necessary with flexibility around working hours and related travel.
