PhD studentship in Technical Art History University College London (UCL) The UCL History of Art department is pleased to offer a fully-funded, three-year PhD studentship in the field of Technical Art History. The studentship will focus on the examination and analysis of paintings primarily from the nineteenth century, using both a portable XRF and other analytical techniques with a view to interpreting the findings in their art historical context. The applicant is expected to have a strong intellectual background in art history and to possess the technical proficiency to be able to employ confidently a range of analytical techniques, as well as IT competence. Such correlated skills are expected to produce a valuable body of new, scholarly research in this burgeoning field. Applicants are required to have an upper second class honours degree in History of Art or a subject related to Technical Art History, and either an MA or professional equivalent in this field. The studentship is to commence on 27 September 2010. Closing date for applications is 6^th August, 2010. Interviews will take place in August/early September.
