Stamping library books

There is little published on the practise of directly stamping
library collection. Are other national libraries stamping incoming
publications (both rare and new books)? If so, what ink is being
use? I have only found two archival quality inks on sale from
preservation equipment and Conservation Resources, though no
specification ink formula. Does anyone have experience of using
these or any other commercially available inks? Any info would be
gratefully received.
