Librarian (Education & Training) Library Services Preservation Directorate, Conservation Division Library of Congress Opening Date: Jun 24, 2010 Closing Date: Jul 19, 2010 The Library of Congress would like to announce a new full time permanent position opening in the Conservation Division within the Preservation Directorate, a GS-1410-9, Librarian (Education and Training) in the Madison Building of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. This position works in the areas of preservation outreach, education, training, special projects such as courses or meetings, event planning, and related outreach activities such as tours. The salary range is $51,630-$67,114, which is a GS-9-1410-01 position with promotion potential to a GS-12 level. As the vacancy announcement indicates, "The incumbent recommends policy with regard to outreach, reference and education and training issues; defines and carries out projects, and establishes priorities for reference education and outreach activities. This position is responsible for maintaining expertise in one or more specialized preservation activities such as emergency preparedness and collections care, and provides reference and training using a working knowledge in all areas as assigned. At entry level (GS-9), the incumbent completes routine assignments using specialized knowledge, assists division chief with major programs and services in training and outreach." Strong candidates should have experience in preservation, education and training, information and materials organization, writing and editing, and consultation and liaison services including tours and as well as with current technology for these areas.
