Subject: Call for papers--Materials Research Society (MRS)
Call for papers Materials Research Society (MRS) This is forwarded on behalf of Pamela Vandiver. Although the deadline has passed, those interested should send abstracts to vandiver<-at->mse<.>arizona<.>edu as there is some flexibility in the deadline. We are now accepting abstracts for the 2010 Fall MRS meeting (held in Boston, MA Nov 29-Dec 3, 2010). This year will mark the 9th Materials Issues in Art and Archaeology Symposium (designated WW on the MRS website). The call for papers flyer is available at <URL:http://www.mrs.org/ s_mrs/bin.asp?CID=25914&DID=307677&DOC=FILE.PDF> **** Moderator's comments: The above URL has been wrapped for email. There should be no newline. We are particularly interested in papers that focus on conservation science, technical art history, ancient technologies, nondestructive analysis, and cutting edge applications of modern technology to the study of archaeological and artistic materials. We hope to include at least one session that focuses on solving problems in Asian material culture, and another on New World problems. We also hope to focus a session on technological change and important technological transitions in prehistory, antiquity, and history. Possible paper topics include the relationship between late bronze and early iron smelting, the connection between glazing technology and glass manufacture, or ceramic technology and early copper smelting. However, abstracts addressing all related research are welcome. The submission deadline is June 22, 2010. If you would like to present an invited paper, please contact Pamela Vandiver <vandiver<-at->mse<.>arizona<.>edu> Please feel free to forward this call for papers as you see fit. Lesley D.
