From: Janita Chooramun <janita.chooramun<-at->
Date: Monday, June 14, 2010
Assistant Conservator, Paintings
Tate

Millbank and Tate Store, London
Closing date: 28 June 2010

Salary: UKP22,900 per annum

Together, with your help, we can continue to provide first-class
conservation support and expertise across all four Tate sites.
Day-to-day, you'll concentrate on assessing, preparing and treating
works of art for display, exhibition and loan purposes, sharing your
specialist knowledge throughout Tate and beyond. It's a challenging,
intriguing role, which will see you undertaking preventative
conservation, including environmental monitoring and integrated pest
management. We'll also expect you to keep up-to-date with the latest
conservation techniques, and use them to recommend safe, efficient
ways to store, transport, and display the Collection.

You'll need a professional conservation qualification, in paintings
conservation, as well as a demonstrable commitment to on-going
conservation and care. You're able to assess, treat and document
objects, applying a full understanding of the ethics and theory
behind your work, and insight into developing conservation best
practice. You'll have effective communication and good IT skills,
with flexibility around working hours and related travel.

Tate's Collection comprises some 67,000 works of British art from
the 16th century to the present day, international modern and
contemporary art. Our Collection Care Division is responsible for
ensuring this vast resource is readily accessible and available for
all four Tate galleries--now and in the future--through excellence
and innovation in care, while preventing damage and deterioration of
both nationally respected and internationally renowned pieces.
